About the Voice Instructor
Maria Palombo holds a Master of Music and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduating with degrees in Music and Drama and a minor in Speech & Hearing Science. She has performed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, the National Opera Center (NYC), the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia, PA), McCarter Theatre (Princeton, NJ) Memorial Auditorium (Raleigh, NC), the Durham Performing Arts Center (Durham, NC) and in Arezzo and Maiori, Italy.
Her favorite opera and musical theater credits include: Gianni Schicchi (Lauretta), La clemenza di Tito (Servilia), the title roles in Cendrillon and Kiss Me, Kate, and Monica in The Medium. Maria served as the soprano section leader at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ for 5 years and sings as an active member of the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, the official choir of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Maria teaches voice lessons for all skill levels and has helped countless students learn to sing. Currently, her private voice studio includes many future collegiate music majors, children, actors looking to improve their singing, and a few folks in their golden years who are seeking a creative outlet. Her love of teaching singing and pedagogical methods stem from her own wonderful teachers. She recognizes the importance of having an informed and innovative teacher and strives to make each lesson enlightening and fun. Maria is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and The Voice Foundation, as well as the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). |
